In 1997 and 1998, BDPA Houston participated in the national initiative of Vice President Al Gore. That initiative called Net Day provided for wiring of all public schools nationally for the
internet.
In 1998, under the urging of the National BDPA VP Membership Management, BDPA Houston participated in BFTAW.
From 1997, Black Expo was renamed, Minority Business Expo. BDPA Houston participated in the 1997 Minority Business Expo.
